I don't often post about runway looks but I've been very anxious nervous curious to see what Raf Simons would do to at one of my all-time favorite design houses, Dior. Known for lady-like, chic and classy designs, would Raf keep those thoughts or would he go all minimalistic on Dior?
Santas I've been watching. Some of the looks for the Spring RTW line were just not exciting to me (several LBD's that were just plain) but I did find patterns and textures that I both love and don't love so much. I re-read Raf's interview with Vogue back in Nov and I'm still encouraged and excited about what's to come. His quotes are below.
What do you think of this line?
“more than a brand that functions only for a special event. For me, that’s a little bit too easy, and I don’t think that’s what Christian Dior wanted. He wanted his clothes to be on the street. He was fascinated by women, their culture, mentality, sexuality.”
“I want to bring some emotion back, to what I felt in the nineties, because I see a lot of amazing clothes, but I don’t see a lot of emotion now,” he says.

I didn't have time to comment on this runway show this past fashion week season, but I really liked some of the pieces in the collection. It's not as crazy and over the top as in the golden Galliano days, but it's definitely going in an interesting direction. I'm curious to see what's next :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice collection. I like that pumps and colors. Have a nice day.

Hmmm....I have to be honest. I am not really impressed. These are not designs I associate with Dior...somewhat more Marni driven/inspired? I was expecting more you know?
ReplyDeleteI love this colelction instead, I think it is more Dior-ish than the galliano ones!

What I like about him is the actual wear-ability of these designs. Non of this silly fashion that no one will ever wear.
